Helker and Crawford was founded in 1999 with the idea to apply a simple retail sales concept to the General Construction industry. After years in an industry that is notorious for antagonistic relationships, we thought it would be a novel idea to take care of our customers and let our customers take care of us. We decided we didn’t just want to be a low bidder, but the very best contractor any of our clients had ever teamed with. Well, it worked.

We now measure our success not by project, but by hundreds of projects. Clients, Subs, and vendors aren’t Contacts, they’re friends, and those friendships are measured not by weeks, but by decades. Our goals are simple, we strive to be the best builder, the best employer, the best teammate, and the best company we can be.

Executive Leadership

Nathan Crawford - President

Mr. Crawford is the President of Helker & Crawford Constructors, L.P. He entered the construction industry after earning a degree in Building & Construction from the University of Florida. Mr. Crawford began his career with Pinkerton & Laws as a Project Manager, building hotels, multi-family units, and various retail work. After moving to Atlanta in 1995 he joined the DooleyMack Constructors of Georgia, Inc. team as a project manager.

During his years at this company he has completed multiple jobs in the retail and restaurant market, developing an expertise in these markets. In 2001 he joined David Helker to create the partnership that is now Helker & Crawford Constructors, LP. In his role as President, he has managed retail projects including Dollar General, over 70 Sam’s/Wal-mart projects, Barnes & Noble, CVS Pharmacies, and multiple Rooms To Go projects.


David Helker - Vice President

Mr. Helker is the Executive Vice President of Helker & Crawford Constructors, lp. He began his career in construction after earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Building Construction from the University of Florida. Upon graduation, he was employed by Hallmark Builders in Orlando, Florida, and subsequently by Perry-Parrish Construction, Inc. of Gainesville, Florida. He managed residential, commercial, and institutional projects for the Florida Board of Regents, Florida Department of Corrections, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons, ranging up to $28 million dollars.

Mr. Helker moved to Texas in 2001 and joined Nathan Crawford to create the partnership that is now Helker & Crawford Constructors, lp. In his role as Vice President, he has managed the construction of multiple Sams Clubs, Wal Marts, Fleet Pro Truckwash, various retail centers, and over 150 CVS pharmacies.

Project Managers

Byron Godwin - Project Manager

Byron has been in the construction industry for the past 18 years as an estimator and project manager. His career in Commercial Construction has allowed him to gain experience working in a variety of projects types. This has also given him the opportunity to work with a diverse list of clients including municipalities, school districts, private developers and major national retail clients.

Over the years Byron has working with Wal-Mart, Barnes & Noble, McDonalds, Yum Brands, LifeWay Christian Stores, and CVS Pharmacy. Byron enjoys spending time with his son and daughter, cooking and playing tennis.

Scott Bergen - Project Manager

Scott Bergen has been involved in the Construction Industry for the past 13 years since earning a BS degree in Construction Management from Utah Valley University. Over his career he has been a key member of project teams on Heavy Industrial, Institutional, Entertainment, Office, and Retail projects throughout the Country.

Most recently Scott has seen success as a Project Manager for Corporate Clients such as Bank of America, Wachovia, and currently CVS Caremark. Scott enjoys the outdoors, traveling and spending time with his wife and four children.

Chad Violette - Project Manager

Chad Violette is a graduate from the University of Dallas where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Finance with a minor in Business Management. Since graduating Chad worked in the finance industry before making the switch over to construction.

For the past 3 years in his construction career, Chad has completed various large scale interior and exterior projects in the multi-family industry throughout the country. This has led Chad to Helker and Crawford where he currently focuses on new construction projects such as CVS Pharmacy. He enjoys staying active, sports, the occasional leap from an airplane and spending time with family and friends.
